The Wildpsych Program

The Wildpsych Program

A depth-oriented therapy group for adults — launched by a weekend overnight hike in Maine’s mountains, and carried through ongoing weekly group therapy.

Why a mountain

Most of the important work of therapy happens in a quiet room. This is something else. There’s a particular kind of honesty that becomes available when you’re out of your ordinary life — tired, a little exposed, your phone off and far away, moving through the woods alongside other people who are doing the same. The usual defenses get quieter. Something more real comes forward.

We begin not in a consulting room but on a trail: a weekend overnight hike that forms a group out of strangers through shared effort, and creates a living metaphor — walking your path, together — that the rest of the program returns to again and again.

Launch weekend

One night, two days

A Saturday hike to established backcountry camp, first group session as light goes down, Sunday summit work, and a humane pace held by the group.
